On Saturday, May 9th, we’ll have our Third Saturday work day on the Second Saturday (huh???) back at the Laura Hare Nature Preserve at Downey Hill. We’ll proceed downhill from where we left off on the last work day. Our work day is on the second Saturday because HHC volunteers will be busy hosting the 21st Annual Run with the Foxes trail race on Saturday, May 16th.

Due to limited parking availability at the work site, we’ll meet at the nearby Country Gospel Music Church on SR 46 and carpool to the preserve. People with four-wheel drive vehicles can transport people from the church and park inside the gate at the preserve.

It’s a large, white church on the south side of SR 46 just west of Mount Liberty Road.

The preserve itself is on Valley Branch Road, about one and a half miles south of SR 46. You can find more information about the preserve at: http://sycamorelandtrust.org/downey-hill.

As usual we’ll work until about 3:00 pm, rain or shine, with a break for lunch at noon. Bring gloves and water. HHC will provide tools and lunch. It would be helpful if you can R.S.V.P. to hoosierhikerscouncil@gmail.com, even if to state your plans are uncertain. Not sure if you’ll make it until the last minute? We’ll be happy to have you join us anyway!
