January 16th Third Saturday Work Day

On Saturday, January 16th, we’ll have our Third Saturday work day back at the Laura Hare Nature Preserve at Downey Hill. We’ll continue working in the valley between the east and west sections of the trail.

Due to limited parking availability at the work site, we’ll meet at the nearby Country Gospel Music Church on SR 46 and carpool to the preserve. People with four-wheel drive vehicles can transport people from the church and park inside the gate at the preserve.

We’ll meet at 9:00 am Saturday at:
Country Gospel Music Church
5181 E. St. Rd. 46
Nashville, Indiana 47448

It’s a large, white church on the south side of SR 46 just west of Valley Branch Road.

The preserve itself is on Valley Branch Road, about one and a half miles south of SR 46. You can find more information about the preserve at: http://sycamorelandtrust.org/downey-hill. Note that we will park on Mt. Liberty Road, on the west side of the preserve.

As usual we’ll work until about 3:00 pm, rain or shine, with a break for lunch at noon. Bring gloves and water. HHC will provide tools and lunch. It would be helpful if you can R.S.V.P. to hoosierhikerscouncil@gmail.com, even if to state your plans are uncertain. Not sure if you’ll make it until the last minute? We’ll be happy to have you join us anyway!

If the weather looks iffy, check the Recent Posts column on the HHC website and visit the HHC Facebook page for potential cancellation notices. We’ll post these notices by 7:00 am on the day of the event.

See you there!
