The Tecumseh Trail in winter as it passes Bear Creek Lake

The Tecumseh Trail is a great place to hike all year round.  See our Trails tab to find more information about this popular trail.

I have hiked the entire length of this trail and I plan on doing so again. I started at the Morgan-Monroe State Forest trailhead and did a two day hike beyond Yellowwood State Forest to where it meets up with SR 46 near Belmont (approximately 33 miles I believe). This was in mid October of last year and you couldn’t ask for a better time of the year with the color of the leaves in full effect. If you plan on hiking the Tecumseh all at once I would recommend doing it in three days/14 miles a day segments. There is a shelter right at the 14 mile mark where you can set up camp and also another camping opportunity at Yellowwood (mile 28). However, on the final day you’ll need to take into account that when you reach the conclusion of the Tecumseh you will need to hike back another two or three miles to the nearest road as the ending of the trail is very abrupt and in a remote part of the woods. A fantastic trail and a must do if you love a long, scenic hike.
