September’s third Saturday work day will be at Eagle’s Crest Nature Preserve on the west side of Eagle Creek Park. The DNR Division of Nature Preserves and Indy Parks have asked the HHC to build a loop trail which highlights the rugged beauty of this nature preserve on the northwest side of Indianapolis. We’ll build a 1.5 mile trail that features high bluffs with broad views over Eagle Creek Reservoir and offers glimpses of old growth forest which is so well preserved that it appears much as it did before the arrival of pioneer settlers.
We’ll meet at 9:00 am at the gravel parking lot near the Eagle’s Crest cabin. As usual we’ll work until about 3:00 pm, rain or shine, with a break for lunch at noon. Bring gloves and water. HHC will provide other tools and lunch.
It would be helpful if you can R.S.V.P., even if to state your plans are uncertain. Not sure if you’ll make it until the last minute? We’ll be happy to have you join us anyway!
