October 16th Third Saturday Workday

On Saturday, October 16th, the Hoosier Hikers Council will have a trail maintenance workday at Beck’s Mill near Salem, Indiana. We’re going to clean them up the trails we built on their hilly, wooded property in 2008 while the mill was being restored. It’s always a pleasure to return to the mill and reconnect with the folks who operate it. For more information about Beck’s Mill, see their website: https://www.becksmill.org/.

.Please RSVP to hoosierhikerscouncil@gmail.com to let us know that you’re coming so we can plan enough lunch for all the workers. Please be aware that we unfortunately don’t have the resources to accommodate special dietary needs such as vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.

Beck’s Mill is located about five miles southeast of Salem, Indiana on Beck’s Mill Road. From the junction of SR 135 and SR 56 in Salem, go south on SR 135/Main St. about one mile to Beck’s Mill Road. Turn west on Beck’s Mill Road and continue for about 5.5 miles to the mill. Right after you cross the bridge over Mill Creek, the mill will be on your right and a parking lot will be on your left. We’ll meet in the parking lot.

We’ll meet at 10:00 am in the parking lot across from the mill and work until about 3:00 pm with a break for lunch. Please bring water and work gloves; the HHC will provide tools and training. The Friends of Beck’s Mill will provide lunch!

If the weather looks iffy, check the HHC Facebook page and website for cancellation notices. We’ll post the notice by 5:00 am on the workday.
