March 19th Third Saturday Workday

Come join the Hoosier Hikers Council on Saturday, March 19th, for a workday at Sycamore Land Trust’s Powell Preserve in Monroe County north of Ellettsville! We’re going to start building a new trail there that will feature ridgetop views, Beanblossom Creek, and open prairie.

Please RSVP to to let us know that you’re coming so we can plan enough lunch for all the workers. Please be aware that we unfortunately don’t have the resources to accommodate special dietary needs such as vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.

The Powell Preserve is located in Monroe County between Ellettsville and Gosport on Brighton Road.

From Martinsville:
Take I-69 to Exit 134 and turn right on Godsey Road then left on Turkey Track Rd.
Follow Turkey Track Road and W Paragon Road to S Salem Road. Turn left/south on S Salem Road and go to W Burnett Road where you will turn right/west. Stay on W Burnett Road as it turns into Wampler Road and keep going to W Brighton Road where you will turn left/west. Follow Brighton Road to the preserve which will be on the south side of the road.

From Bloomington
Take SR 46 west to Ellettsville. Turn north on Matthews Drive and continue to N Mount Tabor Road where you will turn left/north. Continue north on Mount Tabor Road to the T at Brighton Road. Turn left/west on Brighton Road and continue to the preserve which will be on the south side of the road.

We’ll meet at 9 am on Saturday, March 19th at the Powell Preserve parking lot, and we’ll work until 3 pm with a break for lunch. Please bring water and gloves. The HHC will provide tools, training, and lunch.
