HHC Third Saturday HIKE DAY November 18th

Due to November’s Third Saturday falling on the first day of deer hunting’s gun season at Green’s Bluff, we are going to have a quiet day of hiking and clipping at the Laura Hare Nature Preserve at Downey Hill on November 18th. Our day will be mostly casual hiking with hand clippers at this Sycamore Land Trust property located near Gnaw Bone in Brown County.

Please RSVP to hoosierhikerscouncil@gmail.com to let us know that you’re coming so we can plan enough lunch for all the hikers. Please be aware that we unfortunately don’t have the resources to accommodate special dietary needs such as vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.

To get to the preserve, from SR 46 east of Gnaw Bone, go south on Valley Branch Road 1.5 miles to the preserve parking lot. We’ll be parking inside the gate on a dirt road so that we won’t have to take up the parking spaces in the parking lot.

We’ll meet at 9 am on Saturday, November 18th at the Downey Hill trail head, and we’ll hike and clip until 3 pm with a break for lunch. Please bring water and work gloves; the HHC will provide tools, training, and lunch. If you have a favorite hand clipper, you might bring it too.

If the weather looks iffy, check the HHC Facebook page and the HHC website for a cancellation notice. We’ll post the notice by 5:00 am on the work day.

We hope to see you there!
