Third Saturday Workday January 21st

On Saturday, January 21, the Hoosier Hikers Council will be back at the Laura Hare Nature Preserve at Downey Hill where we’ll continue working on the scenic south section of this new trail. If you haven’t seen the property, here’s a link to a video showing an overview of the preserve:
Please RSVP to hoosierhikerscouncil@gmail.com to let us know that you’re coming so we can plan enough lunch for all the workers.
Due to limited parking availability at the work site, we’ll meet at the nearby Country Gospel Music Church on SR 46 and carpool to the preserve. People with four-wheel drive vehicles can transport people from the church and park inside the gate at the preserve.
We’ll meet at 9:00 am Saturday at:
Country Gospel Church
5181 E. St. Rd. 46
Nashville, Indiana 47448
It’s a large, white church on the south side of SR 46 just west of Valley Branch Road.
Here’s a google map of the meeting location:
The preserve itself is on Valley Branch Road, about one and a half miles south of SR 46. You can find more information about the preserve at: http://sycamorelandtrust.org/downey-hill. Note that we will park in the gravel parking lot off Valley Branch Road on the west side of the preserve.
As usual we’ll work until about 3:00 pm, rain or shine, with a break for lunch at noon. Bring gloves and water. HHC will provide tools and lunch.
Last month was canceled due to weather, so we’ll see what happens this month. Maybe it’ll be warm and sunny, or we might get more ice and snow. Anything can happen! Watch the HHC web and Facebook pages for cancellation notices. We’ll post these notices by 7:00 am on the day of the event.
