Join us to continue work on the Indian Hill Re-Route!
On Saturday, March 16, the HHC will continue work on the Indian Hill reroute of the Tecumseh Trail. If the ground is thawed enough for digging, we’ll do some benching on the hillside. If the ground is frozen, we’ll continue clearing. Please bring gloves and water, the HHC will provide lunch, tools, instruction and encouragement!
We’ll meet at 9:00 am at the entrance to the DNR tree plantation just past the ford on Indian Hill Road south of SR 45. Here’s a link to a Google map of the location:https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=203873654767753469632.0004d02186a049b03ae99&msa=0&ll=39.26621,-86.315911&spn=0.002546,0.003449
IMPORTANT! Please check your email, the HHC web page and the HHC Facebook page before driving to the work site on the 16th! If road conditions are bad, we’ll post a cancellation notice on those locations.
It would be helpful if you can R.S.V.P., even if to state your plans are uncertain. Not sure if you’ll make it until the last minute? We’ll be happy to have you join us anyway!
Not a definite show but if it works out, I would love to start working with you guys!
That’s great! We’d love to have you join us!
My son and I just hiked a section of the Knobstone Trail today for the first time. We’ve been doing day hikes at some of the Indiana State Parks for years and have been thinking about volunteering to help maintain some of the trails since this is a much loved hobby of ours. Do you have a minimum age requirement for volunteers? He is 16 and most likely more fit that I am and definitely a hard worker.
Hi! There is no minimum age requirement. We welcome all ages! If you would like to be put on our email list for work days, just let us know!
A definite maybe for my husband and I. He has a chain saw, but no formal HHC training. Should he bring it? (The HMBA wouldn’t let him a couple weeks ago at Town Run).
Hi Sherrie! We hope you can make it!
We are working on Yellowwood State Forest on this work day, and the property management only allows chain saw use by those who have obtained their training and certification. But there is plenty of other work to do, so we hope you can make it!
I had to scrub at the last minute for the March 16th work session. When/where the next one be held?
