Mary Perez, a long-time HHC member, will be leading a co-ed hike for the Brown County Walking Women on Friday, March 22:
ELK CREEK TO LEOTA, on the Knobstone Trail
Arriving at Leota Trailhead we will have completed 33 miles of this 58 mile trail. Today, starting at Elk Creek Trailhead, we’ll travel about 7 miles quickly rising 170 feet for a last view of the lake from a ridge top heading into the Clark State Forest area. The trail passes through some large clearings created by logging operations, which provide wildlife habitat. As it reaches the Leota Trailhead the trail rises to an elevation of 1,000 feet. Meet at the IGA in Nashville, car pool to Mary’s, on to Brownstown to meet Bloomington walkers at the co-op gas station on the corner of 50 and 135. Bring a bag lunch to enjoy along the trail, on a ridge top.
