July 17 and August 21, 2010
The next two HHC third Saturday work days (July 17 and August 21) will be at the property we recently donated to the Oak Heritage Conservancy. This steep, wooded section is between Ault Sawmill Road and Haleysburg Road in Washington County. We'll meet at the DNR's Shipley Purchase Area parking lot on SR 135 and caravan/carpool to the work site. The Shipley Purchase in Jackson-Washington State Forest is on the east side of SR 135 near Plattsburg, a little more than four miles south of the Muskatatuck River. There's a big sign visible from SR 135 (see photo). We'll meet at 9:00 am and work until 3:00 as usual. The route has been flagged but not clipped or cleared yet, so we'll mainly be using clippers and rakes. Bring gloves, lunch and plenty of water!
Contact the HHC, if you need more information, or just plan on meeting us: 765/349-0204 or hikers@hoosierhikerscouncil.org. We'll have tools. But bring lunch and water!
RE : ADOPTING a BCSP or Tecumseh Trail section: Maybe you don't have time, or Saturdays, to help with trail work. Adopting a trail is another way to aid in the HHC's mission-a very essential one-but suit your schedule! Just contact the HHC for information and training.
